Description
'Pesky Pole' marks the foul line in right field at Boston's Fenway Park, a distance of 302 feet from home plate. It was named after Johnny Pesky, also known as Mr. Red Sox, who played 2nd and 3rd base, and shortstop for the Sox from 1942 till 1952, excepting 1943 through 1945 due to World War II. Johnny was also a manager, and coach of the BoSox. The famous pole was dubbed 'Pesky Pole' by Mel Parnell after a 1948 home run hit by Johnny down the right field line.
