Description
When entering this beautiful garden in Lynch Park, Beverly, Massachusetts you are greeted with a warning etched in the wall's stonework; "Whosoever enters here, Let him Beware, For he shall never more escape nor be free of my spell." While this art piece was made in 2013, I have been under the spell for decades, as I don't honestly remember my first visit to this gorgeous garden. This is the site of a former 14 room cottage owned by John Stetson known as Stetson Hall. The summers of 1909 and 1910 the cottage was leased by President William Howard Taft. In 1911 the building was moved in sections by barge across the harbor to Marblehead, and this Italian garden was established in its place.
